Turkish Regional Airline to Fly E2s

Borajet Airlines of Istanbul will take delivery of five E2s starting in 2018. The airline has acquired three E190-E2s and two E195-E2s on long-term leases from AerCap, the world’s largest aircraft leasing company. Borajet already operates thirteen current-generation E-Jets that fly scheduled services on some 20 domestic and international routes.

As Europe’s fastest-growing regional carrier, the addition of the E2s represents the first phase of Borajet’s USD1.5 billion expansion initiative.

AerCap is the lessor launch customer for the E2s and has 50 E190/E195-E2s on order.

Because crews only need fewer than three days of transition training to qualify on the E2, the aircraft complement an airline’s current-generation E-Jet fleet. Carriers benefit from reduced training costs and greater operational flexibility with a single pool of E-Jet pilots.
