Régional goes All-Embraer

Régional goes All-Embraer

Régional, a Groupe Air France partner airline, took delivery of its 20th E-Jet, an E170, at a ceremony in São José dos Campos last month. The Nantes-based carrier now operates an all-Embraer jet fleet of 53 aircraft and flies to 43 cities in Europe, including 20 in France.

The airline has a long history with Embraer. Régional airline retired its last EMB120 turboprop in 2008 when it made the transition to all- jet aircraft. In 2006, it was the first European carrier to fly the E190. Today, Régional has the largest fleet of Embraer aircraft in the EU:

10 x E190

10 x E170

27 x E145

6 x E135

100 seats

76 seats

50 seats

37 seats

The last E170 was formally handed over to a delegation of Régional and Air France representatives by Mauro Kern, Embraer’s Executive VP, New Aircraft Programs. The ceremony was marked by the presentation of a commemorative video and unique gift of a collection of shavings of metal cut from Régional’s first E-Jet. The pieces were mounted in a three- dimensional frame inscribed with inspiration from St. Antoine de Exupéry:

“The aeroplane has unveiled for us the true face of the Earth.”
