Airlink is leading the restoration of air service in South Africa with its fleet of E170s and E190s. The first flights start this week on the Cape Town-Johannesburg and Durban-Johannesburg routes.
Airlink is one of the scheduled airline flying domestically. The Government has a three-phase implementation plan that calls for the gradual introduction of more flights.
Phase 1 – Johannesburg – Cape Town/Durban; Lanseria – Cape Town/Durban; and Cape Town – Durban
Phase 2 – Selected inland province airports
Phase 3 – Coastal province destinations including inland towns and cities
Airlink plans to increase the number of nonstops between JNB-CPT/DUR starting June 15. Learn more here.
As in other regions of the world, Embraer E-Jets are proving to have the right capacity as airlines ramp up their schedules in this weak-demand period. Many airlines in Europe, China, the USA, and now South Africa are all rebuilding their networks with E-Jets.
