Embraer Airline Business Seminar Latin America

​For the eighth consecutive year, delegates from airlines, banks, academia and the consulting world gathered in São José dos Campos on May 15 & 16 to exchange their perspectives on the industry in Latin America.

Conference delegates toured the E-Jets assembly line which included visiting the paint shop, interior installation facility and finishing center.

The event, co-sponsored by Sabre, SITA, Shell and Pratt & Whitney, attracted some 140 attendees.  This year, the conference featured several presentations on how Embraer E-Jets are being deployed in customer networks.

Mr. John Rodgerson, Azul’s Chief Financial Officer, explained how the airline has been able to command a 24% share of Brazil’s corporate travel market.​ Olga Guizado, Scheduling and Strategic Planning Manager for Copa Airlines spoke about the fleet flexibility and the diversity of the Copa network and Mr. Corneel Koster, COO for AeroMexico, cited domestic traffic growth rates, how the airline has been able to control CASK, and future fleet plans.

Industry views were presented by Mr. Patricio Sepulveda from IATA, Mr. Eduardo Iglesias, the new Chairman of ALTA, Mr. Mike Linenberg, Airline Analyst at Deutsche Bank, Professor Nawal Taneja of Ohio State University and Mr. Peter Belobaba from MIT.​

Of course, no seminar is ever complete without a factory tour and new information about Embraer programs.  Mr. Claudio Camelier, Embraer’s Market Intelligence VP, and Mr. James Speich, Sr. Marketing Manager for Pratt & Whitney briefed the delegates about developments with the E2 and the PW1700G/1900G engines.
