It’s official – the E195-E2 is certified!

Our biggest E-Jet, the E195-E2, received Type Certification simultaneously today from the three major regulatory authorities. Representatives from ANAC (Brazil), the FAA (USA), and EASA (Europe) delivered the documents at a ceremony in São José dos Campos. The E190-E2 also received simultaneous certification from the same three authorities last year.

Embraer used two prototype aircraft in the E195-E2 certification campaign, one for aerodynamic and performance tests, the other for the interior and validation of maintenance tasks.

Test data show the airplane is better than its original specification. Fuel consumption is 1.4% lower than expected, an impressive 25.4% reduction in fuel-per-seat compared to the current-generation E195. Maintenance costs are 20% lower, too.

The new E195-E2 flies 2,600 nm, 600 nm further than the E195. Performance from restricted fields is also better – 900 nm more range from Denver and 500 nm more from Rio’s Santos Dumont Airport.
