We’ve made E-Jets history, again!
Widerøe Airlines of Norway completed the first scheduled passenger flight of an E190-E2 this morning. The 114-seat aircraft, registered LN-WEA and operating as flight WF622, departed Bergen at 0735 for the two-hour, 672 nm/1,246 km trip to Tromsø.
The flight marks the end of years of planning and development for the first of three models of new-generation E-Jets that will be delivered between now and 2021. The next E2, the larger E195-E2 which can seat up to 144 passengers, is scheduled to enter airline service in 2019.
Today’s historic flight also ushers in a new era of efficiency and environmentally-friendly E-Jets flying. ,
The E190-E2 burns 17.3% less fuel than the first-generation E190 and has the lowest noise and emissions levels of any aircraft in its class.
Widerøe will receive two more E190-E2s this year. The new E-Jets will be deployed on domestic and regional European routes.
