The Singapore Air Show announcement by Indian carrier Air Costa of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, to acquire up to 100 E-Jets E2s has swelled the order book for the next-generation E-Jets.  The airline intends to start adding 50 E190-E2s in 2018 and 50 larger E195-E2s thereafter.

As of mid-February, the total orders, options and Letters of Intent for the E-Jets E2s is 455.

* orders and options are an unspecified mix of E190-E2 & E195-E2 + LOIs from 5 airlines from Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia

Air Costa chairman and LEPL Group Executive Director Mr. Ramesh Lingamaneni (L) and Embraer Commercial Aviation president Mr. Paulo Cesar Silva at the company’s press conference at the 2014 Singapore Air Show.

Air Costa’s E190-E2s will be configured with 6 Business Class and 92 Economy Class seats.  The larger E195-E2s will have 12 Business Class and 106 Economy Class seats.

The airline is confident on the future of regional aviation in India given its strong performance since it was launched four months ago.  The carrier is filling an average of 74% of seats on every flight on the two E170s it is currently flying to six cities.  Two E190s are scheduled for delivery this month with another aircraft arriving every quarter through 2018 when the first E190-E2 arrives.
