Embraer co-organized the 2013 Forum for Civil Aviation Development in China, an annual event held in the city of Ordos, Mongolia, from August 28-30. It was the first time in the seven-year history of the conference that regional aviation issues were included on the agenda.
The other organizers of the event were the Management Institute for Civil Aviation in China, a branch of the Central Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), and the Ordos Airport Authority.
The three-day seminar attracted senior representatives from China’s aviation industry and local companies. Foreign speakers included Mr. Paulo Cesar Silva, Embraer’s president of Commercial Aviation and Mr. Paul Finklestein, Vice President of Marketing at Pratt & Whitney. Two other keynote speakers were Mr. Alex Malfitini, Director of Finance and Treasury for Azul Airlines of Brazil who talked about the keys to success for the Brazilian carrier; and Mr. Roger Cohen, President of the Regional Airline Association in the USA who spoke of the regulatory environment and the evolution of regional aviation in that country.
The forum was also an opportunity to launch Embraer’s E-Jets E2s in China. The new aircraft, the E175-E2, E190-E2 and E195-E2, were presented with much fanfare by projecting a huge image of the new Chinese version of the Behold the Power of 2 hotsite.
