We made aviation history when we delivered our first E-Jet, an E170, to LOT Polish Airlines in 2004. And now, fourteen and half years later, we’re making history again this month with the delivery of our 1,500th E-Jet, an E175 to Alaska Airlines. The milestone airplane will be flown by Alaska Airlines subsidiary, Horizon Air.
Currently more than 70 operators from all 5 continents count with E-Jets on their fleets. Around the globe the E-Jets have carried over 1 billion passengers, and by our own estimate, an E-Jet takes off or lands somewhere in the world every 2 minutes.
Much of the success of the E-Jet program is attributed to its remarkable versatility. Soon after launch, airlines realized the many ways they could deploy the different models within the family: from opening new routes to hub feeding; from natural growth from smaller jets to complementing narrowbody operations by helping them match aircraft capacity to market demand.
For more than a decade, Embraer E-Jets have been flying with mainline, regional, charter and low-cost airlines around the globe. The program has become so successful that a second generation of E-Jets is now bringing even greater efficiency to our customers and a more comfortable travel experience to their customers.
And if you’re flying Alaska Airlines or are at an airport in the USA or Canada, you’ll need to look closely for the distinctive 1,500th E-Jet marking on the special E175. There are more than 50 E-Jets flying in Alaska Airlines colours but only registration number N643QX has the commemorative blue and green logo.
