If you’re travelling in North America next year, you might be flying on one of the ten new E175s that American Airlines just purchased this week. The airline’s new order is in addition to four E175s that it bought earlier in April.
This latest order brings the total number of E175s that AA has added to its fleet to 74 aircraft. The new E175s will be flown by Envoy Air, AA’s wholly-owned subsidiary, and have 12 First Class, 20 Main Cabin Extra and 44 Main Cabin seats.
The E175 has proven to be the preferred 76-seat aircraft in North America. Since 2013, Embraer has sold nearly 400 E175s to airlines on the continent, representing nearly 80% of all orders in the capacity category.
