One year before the first flight, Embraer pilots are already flying the E190-E2. (Simulated, of course.)

A fixed-base E2 cockpit simulator was installed last year at the Parque Tecnológico in São Jose dos Campos to validate functionality of control laws. Simulations help improve the flying qualities of the E2, identify opportunities to reduce load and weight, and enhance safety by examining protections to the flight envelope. The simulator is a fundamental tool used to evaluate failures in the flight mechanics that drive the architecture of an airplane’s systems.

Since it was first set up, the simulator has undergone a series of improvements. It now has side consoles, avionics and simulated displays, a 200-degree field of vision, and corrections to the geometry of images used in the visual system.
